DALRYMPLE BAY COAL TERMINAL 7X EXPANSION PROJECT– UPGRADES TO CONVEYOR R4

McFee were commissioned by Babcock and Brown Infrastructure (BBI) to complete upgrades to conveyor R4 for the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Expansion Project to handle increased throughput as part of the 7X Project. 


The upgrades covered the supply, installation and commissioning of various mechanical, civil, structural and electrical works, under the direction of Connell Hatch, acting as the EPCM representative for BBI.

 

Contract Scope

 

Structural

  • Fabrication, supply and installation of tail frame assembly, brake station and transfer tower upgrades
  • Removal and replacement of chute work to allow for new 3-way diverter system

Mechanical

  • Removal of existing and installation of new conveyor drive and brake systems
  • Supply and installation of belt idler rollers, pulleys, and belt wash system
  • Belt splicing and adjustment to gravity take-up

Piping

  • Fabricate, supply and installation of pipe and drain work.

Electrical, Control and Communications

  • Removal and reinstatement of electrical items to allow for tower upgrades
  • New cabling and racking to new drives and mechanical equipment
  • Installation of new telemetry cabling, boxes, and starters cells

Commissioning

  • Commissioning of new 3-way diverter chute system
  • Commissioning of new telemetry and conveyor system.

ERA RANGER URANIUM MINE – RADIOMETRIC SORTER & LATERITE PROJECTS

YEAR                              2007

 

located 230 km East of Darwin, Ranger Uranium Mine operated by Energy Resources of Australia, a 68% subsidiary of Rio Tinto Group is currently undergoing an expansion to its ore processing plant including the installation of a new Laterite processing facility.


The expansion will allow production to extend into lower-grade material and allow it to process ore with a high clay content that has been stockpiled since the mine began operating in 1980.

 

McFee’s Scope of Work generally covers the supply, installation and commissioning resources for the new Radiometric Sorter and new Laterite Treatment Plant under the direction of SNC-Lavalin.

 

Contract Scope

 

Structural

  • Fabrication, supply and installation of  support steelwork, conveyor gantries, including stringers, walkways, spillage underpans and cladding
  • Supply and install of tank stiffening steelwork

Mechanical

  • Installation of conveyor systems, scrubbing equipment, pump sets, hoists, fans, compressed air system
  • Installation of radiometric ore sorter and ball mill
  • Installation of feed hoppers and discharge chute work
  • Installation of tanks and tank agitators

Piping

  • Fabricate, supply and installation of duct work
  • Installation of concrete culvert and associated pipelines
  • Supply and install polyethylene and galvanised process lines

Commissioning

  • Labour for commissioning of all systems

BMA BLACKWATER COAL FACILITY
CONVEYOR & PROCESS CONSTRUCTION

Contract Scope

 

McFee was contracted by Barclay Mowlem/ Laing O’Rourke in December 2005 to erect conveyor 304 from the circular stacker to the CHPP which included emergency vibe feeder & associated chutes. The 304 conveyor commenced approx 50mts inside the reclaim tunnel.

 

The 304 conveyor was completed ahead of planned schedule McFee was engaged to erect 301 conveyor & also Crushing station. The crusher building had 6 levels with MMD secondary & tertiary crushers along with roller screens & shuttle conveyors all ITP’s, & MDR’s were completed for all areas.

 

While on site McFee was awarded 2 safety awards one was no medical treatment injuries in 11 months while engaged on the project up to 80 personnel onsite.

ALCAN GOVE
PROCESS PLANT EXPANSION

Located on the western side of the Gulf of Carpentaria the Gove alumina refinery is operated by Alcan.


The Project was to work with the client to complete a range of SMP works for expansion within the Brownfield site.
